Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This website, dailynote.cc, provides a free online notepad (“Online Notepad”, “Daily Note”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at contact@dailynote.cc.
2. What is stored on your device
The notepad works inside your browser. To make autosave, settings and offline use possible, it stores the following on your device. This information is not sent to our server.
| Item | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Local storage ( dailynote_v2) |
The text and titles of your notes, their last-edited times, which notes are pinned, and your settings (dark mode, font, font size, sidebar and word-wrap choices). | To save your notes automatically and show them again when you return. |
| Session storage ( pwa_dismiss) |
A flag that you closed the “Install App” button. | To avoid showing the button again during the same browsing session. |
| Cache storage (service worker) |
Copies of this site’s own pages and files. | To let the notepad open quickly and work offline. |
The notepad also uses your browser’s ability to message between open tabs of the same site, so that a change in one tab shows in another. This does not store anything.
3. What our server receives
When you visit the site, your browser requests pages and files from our web server. Like almost every website, the server and our hosting provider may automatically record technical information such as:
- your IP address,
- the date and time of the request,
- the page or file requested,
- your browser type and device information (user agent), and
- the page that referred you, if any.
We use this information to keep the site running, fix errors, and protect it from abuse. It does not include the contents of your notes. These logs are kept for a limited period according to our hosting provider’s settings.
4. What we do not do
- We do not require you to create an account or give your name or email address to use the notepad.
- We do not upload, read, analyse or sell your notes.
- We do not currently run advertising or third-party analytics on the notepad.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not set tracking cookies. The browser storage listed in section 2 is used only to make the notepad work. You can view or delete it at any time in your browser’s settings under site data or storage.
6. Third parties
We do not share your notes with anyone, because we do not receive them. Our website is delivered through a web hosting provider, which processes server logs on our behalf. If you click a link to another website, that website has its own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.
If we later add services such as analytics, advertising or AI features that send text to a provider, we will update this policy first and clearly tell you what is shared and why.
7. Offline use and installation
After your first visit, a service worker saves copies of the site’s files in your browser so the notepad can open without a connection. You can also install the notepad to your home screen or desktop. Installing does not give us any additional access to your device.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because your notes live in your browser, their safety also depends on your device. Anyone who can use your device and browser profile may be able to see your notes. We recommend not storing highly sensitive information such as passwords or financial details in any browser-based notepad, and keeping a backup of notes you care about.
9. Retention and your choices
- Your notes: they stay on your device until you delete them or clear your browser’s site data. You can delete a note with the bin icon next to it.
- Backups: File → Backup all downloads your notes as a file, and Restore backup loads it again.
- Everything: to remove all data this site stored on your device, clear the site’s data in your browser settings.
- Server logs: you may ask us about, or request deletion of, log entries that relate to you, within what is reasonably possible and permitted by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over personal data, such as the right to access, correct or erase it, or to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, contact us using the details in section 12.
10. Children
The notepad is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect notes or accounts, there is no profile of any user, adult or child, on our side.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes or when the law requires. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. For significant changes we will make the update clearly visible on the site.
12. Contact and grievances
For questions, requests or complaints about this policy or how your data is handled, email contact@dailynote.cc. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
